  • Side effects of medicated shampoos?

I am using medicate shampoo every alternate day to suppress seborrehic dematitis. I want to know if such high usage of medicated shampoos can cause damage to hair. If yes, then is there anything I can do to keep that from preventing.Side effects of medicated shampoos?

I found no effect. To me boric powder treatment worked wonders. Mix a spoon of boric powder with some vinegar. Apply on the scalp and leave for 20 min. Wash it off with a mild shampoo like Ultra Doux gentle shampoo with rosemary oil extract. You can do this twice a week and alternate days only shampoo. Try this for a month and see the difference.
HI FRIEND YOU CAN USE THE SHAMPOO REGULARLY ONLY IF IT IS HERBAL ANY OF OTHER SHAMPOO WILL HARM YOU HAIR ON DAIL BASIS. YOU MAY FACE THE HAIR FALL DESEASE ALSO SO USE IT ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK. THAT WILL BE GOOD FOR YOUR HAIR OR YOU CAN USE KESH NIKHAR SOAP ON DAILY BASIS IT IS NOT HARMFUL

What are the effects of using a human shampoo on a male shi-tzu?

ok so i have to do this science fair and my project is to see what shampoo will make my male short haired shi-tzu's coat whiter ,brighter, cleaner , and shineer. so what i want to know is if i use a normal human shampoo on them like ,amarican crew citrus mint, matrix biolage, and pantene pro-v.will it effect there skin.and im going to use a normal dog shampoo as a control and dependint variableWhat are the effects of using a human shampoo on a male shi-tzu?
I used human shampoo on my dog and nothing happend so Im pretty sure its okayWhat are the effects of using a human shampoo on a male shi-tzu?
You may be sorry if you use your dog for a science project. And, human shampoo is to harsh for most dogs.

Think about how often you wash your own hair versus how often a dog needs bathing and that should give you an indication.

Using lots of different human shampoos on your dog, could cause any number of hair and skin problems. You really should reconsider and come up with some other kind of scicene project.
Never use human shampoo, the PH is not suitable as dog shampoos and can dry the coat out and irritate it.

Many human shampoos have paraffin in them which as a quick fix will make the hair shiny but also causes build up. Just like it does in our hair

add all dogs have hair and not fur, but they have different hair than we do.
I think washing your dog so many times in such a short time period will be harmful, won't he lose the oils in his skin? I don't like the idea of animal testing on your own pet. Can you choose another topic?
Human shampoo won't hurt but it can dry out the dog's hair.
it can make there skin really sore and itchy! dont do it
Well, to start with, you'd need two dogs to do this experiment, since you need to have both the control dog and the dog you're experimenting on. But it isn't the shampoo that makes a dog's coat shiny. It's the dog's diet. If you're feeding him a meat-based diet with few, if any, grains in it, his coat will be brighter and shinier than if you feed him a grain based diet with little or no meat (just meat meal or by products - not really meat). It will take several months to see the difference. His coat won't get whiter with human shampoos any more than human shampoos make a human's hair get blonder or browner or redder.

As for whether it will affect his skin, yes it will. It will dry out his skin and make it flaky (like dandruff), and his coat will lose its natural protective oils. That means he won't be ';waterproof'; any more. Right now, when it rains, there is a period of time when the rain just sits on the top of the dog's coat and doesn't penetrate to the skin unless it's really raining hard and the dog is outside in the rain for awhile. The oils will come back, of course, but the skin may never be the same, and your dog will be very uncomfortable with the itching and scratching that comes with dry skin.

It's not good for dogs to be bathed more often than once a week, and it's better that they get bathed once or twice a year rather than every month. However, if a person has a show dog, that dog gets bathed before every dog show.

There ARE shampoos that will make your dog's coat whiter and brighter - http://www.completecanine.com.au/pages/p鈥?/a> is one of them. If you google ';canine coat whitener'; you'll find more.

    But... the object of your discussion is your science project, isn't it? I don't know when the science fair will be held, but if you have a couple of months, you might change the focus of your project. For example, you might start by taking a picture of your dog now, then feed it a meat-based kibble for two months, then take another picture. You should be able to see the difference. Your dog will also have more energy and a better disposition. His stools will be smaller and less stinky. To find a good meat-based canine diet, google ';meat based dog food.';

    Good luck!

Does any one know about the effects of not using shampoo to cure frizzy hair?

I read in several places that not using shampoo, but doing the motions in the shower as if you had used it, allows your body to make the natural oils that will help tame frizzy hair. Apparently the theory is that when you shampoo you are stripping natural oils from your hair, and that actually damages it more. I'm not sure, but I think I may try it. If any one knows about it, or has tried it, please tell me about the pros and cons of it, because the website I looked at only told me about the positive affects, but I'm just trying to make sure there are no bad affects.Does any one know about the effects of not using shampoo to cure frizzy hair?
I only shampoo once a week...

I use conditioner EVERY shower and massage my scalp as if I were washing with shampoo though...

I have discovered that in the winter, when I get REALLY dry hair, you can use a small dab of the Gel Baby Oil with what I normally do and it helps a LOT.Does any one know about the effects of not using shampoo to cure frizzy hair?
I have curly hair, and i usually shampoo around once a week depending on how fast it gets greasy. I usually condition every day too. I haven't noticed any bad effects, my hair does seem to be healthier since i started doing this...and it looks great too =) I'd definitely go for it!
Your hair will be greasy and oily If it's not washed with SOMETHING.

You can try that product ';WEN'; - I haven't yet, But I may do so after the holidays. It's supposed to keep all of the natural oils in your hair.

well that sounds a little strange. and everyonehas frizzy hair. i use fructis spray hair gel and all u do is spray a little on ur hair and its not really that frizzy. u just need to use product....and if u dont use shampoo ur hair isnt going to look nice or smell nice....
I wouldn't stop using shampoo completely. Maybe use it less, like every other time. I think using something that would condition your hair would work better than using just water. ';City water'; by itself has chemicals and can cause damage.
I have never heard of that but also if you dry your hair with a terry cloth towel it increases frizz. I use a t-shirt to wrap my hair in after a shower.
no dude ur hair will get greasy and nasty

so get a special shampoo and strong conditioner for frizzy hair and there are serums and treatments too.

condition every day and use shampoo every other day
i cant tell you personally but my sister has tried it she said the bad part is your hair will be a little more knotted will get greasy a little faster

    but does work!

well you dont get frizzy hair if u dont wash it but what helped me if anti frizz garnier fructis
it works i have very frizzy hair and it worked for me!!
As a former hairstylist, I can tell you that hair frizz is probably attributed to your hair texture as opposed to your way of grooming. To minimize frizz, shampoo once. Use cool water in your final rinse and keep ends trimmed every 4 to six weeks on average. Some pomades an serums help to minimize the appearance of frizz but because they coat the hair shaft, you might have to shampoo frequently which would defeat your purpose. As for the ';shampoo motion technique'; its slightly feasible that it could work only in that it would stimulate your oil glands which could help with the frizzies. FYI, straight hair is straight because of a round shaped hair follicle, wavy is due to an oval shaped one and extra curly like mine is due to a flat shaped follicle. Thats what makes the differences in hair textures between the races.
Commercial shampoo contains detergents that are petroleum-based to cut grease. This strips the hair of all natural oils, especially if you have been trained to shampoo every day.

Then, conditioner is applied to ';replace'; the oils you just stripped away, but your hair is already fried.

You can wash every other day, and the other days just go through the motions to distribute your own oils throughout your hair. Or you can go to the natural stores and buy something called Liggett's Bar Shampoo. It is very mild an plant-derived, so you might find that you don't even need to condition. I have used it for years, and I do not get split ends.

The natural ingredients are better for the environment, too, and were not tested on animals, I believe.
There's a reason people wash their hair. Washing hair without shampoo might work for like a week, but after that your hair is going to get really oily. Stuff also gets into your hair, and if you aren't getting it out, it will probably cause your hair to tangle.

If you are still using a conditioner, and the conditioner has silicones in it, the silicone forms a layer over your hair every time you condition it, and it doesn't allow water to the hair shaft. If the hair shaft gets no water for too long, it will get very brittle, so you need to do a clarifying wash (you can do this by mixing 1 part vinegar to three parts water and pouring it over your hair) or else switch to a very light conditioner that doesn't leave any residue.

Something you can try instead of quitting washing completely is to cover the ends of your hair (from about 4 inches down from the scalp) in conditioner, and then wash ONLY your roots with shampoo, then condition ALL of your hair after you wash it. That works real well for my hair, which is reeeeal frizzy and damaged, but takes a lot of time, so I just wash the roots of my hair only, and then condition all of it real well.

A good website for haircare is www.longhaircommunity.com. The people there are dedicated to growing their hair very long (like past their butt usually), but in order to do that you have to have VERY healthy hair, so that's a good place to go for advice on keeping hair looking nice.

I have 2 questions: (1) does vo5 shampoo really work on the hair and how? (2) any side effects?

V05 makes my hair feel rough after using it.

So I hate it, i think it's bad for your hair.

    It doesn't feel right.

    It comes out like jelly.

    Pantene was always my favorite.

And I use Herbal Essence now.

I would invest in either two.

not V05.I have 2 questions: (1) does vo5 shampoo really work on the hair and how? (2) any side effects?
it works like other stuff you can get in the drugstore but it is not at all salon quality. obviously. it's not bad for your hair though and at like, 95 cents a bottle you might as well give it a shot!

no side effects.I have 2 questions: (1) does vo5 shampoo really work on the hair and how? (2) any side effects?
V05 shampoo was an incredibly popular shampoo in the 70's. Do they still make that?

I LOVED that shampoo and yes--it worked fine.

    Smells amazing.

It was a big big seller.

It works like any other shampoo--and only ';side effects'; of V05 is you don't want to pour it in your eyes because it will sting like any other popular shampoo that's not meant for babies.

Are there any negative long-term side effects to shampooing &/or conditioning your hair?

. . . baldness aside - no, not really . . .Are there any negative long-term side effects to shampooing %26amp;/or conditioning your hair?
some shampoos make me loose hair.If you notice your loosing hair, just stop it,and try another brand. The more conditioning is good for your hair,it won't hurt your hair, unless your hair is real oily, then it might make it look greesy. Are there any negative long-term side effects to shampooing %26amp;/or conditioning your hair?
    NO!

It is cleaner, your scalp is cleaner and less itchy and bumpy. If you do not shampoo, there will be long term consequences.
no way--------it probably only has very positive long-term effects
    No.

Some guy told me that you shouldn't use the same shampoo over and over, but he was bald, and my hair feels like a puppy's.

Losing hair and skin disorders in some cases, after years, that people did not notice when they were young, and that's what happens to our modern world. People swap to herbal and natural products.Im searching for the adverse effect of detergnt in shampoo on the skin?
Very few shampoos inform you of the ph balance and depending on how much of your skin it touches, if the ph balance isn't lower than 10 it can strip your skin and cause premature aging (among other things.)

Does shampooing 3 times a day has an effect?

i use Head and Shoulder(know that?) everyday...Does shampooing 3 times a day has an effect?
Shampoo %26amp; condition your hair once a day. Every day is fine but more than that %26amp; you run the risk of damaging or drying out your hair. Every time you wash, you're removing your hair's natural oils. Too much washing can cause your hair to dry out or frizz.

If Head %26amp; Shoulders isn't working, switch to Selson Blue, Neutrogena TGel, Denorex or Paul Mitchell's Tea Tree Oil shampoo %26amp; conditioner. Also use a daily clarifying shampoo, like Suave's Basics Daily Clarifying Shampoo. The daily clarifying will wash out all the hair spray, excess oils, gel, pomade, wax, spray gel, etc, that you use. You can get them at Wal-Mart or Target, except the Paul Mitchell. Try drugstore.com or salonsavings.com. Type in Paul Mitchell for the search on the tea tree shampoo %26amp; conditioner on those sites.Does shampooing 3 times a day has an effect?
If you shampoo everyday you are stipping the oils the hair needs to grow and be soft and pretty you shouldnt need to wash everyday unless you have very greasy hair
it will make ur hair really dry n brittle, prone to breakage and split ends. washing ur hair that much everyday hurts u more then its helping, theres a reason y they tell u that u should wash ur hair at least 2 times a week so u obviously dont have to wash ur hair that much.then if its damaged u cant color, flat iron, or do anything to it until u cut ur split ends and start over again.
Actually the studies show that you should only wash your hair every other day. Shampooing it every day definately will make your hair very dried out. I recommend... shampooing it only once a day and then just conditioning it every other time. I also heard that head and shoulders dries your hair out even more.
yes shampooin 3xs a day has an effect it drys the hair out n kills the oil u need in ur hair to help it look healthy n grow better
Don't do that! it dries out your hair tremendously!
unless you have extremely oily hair..it is really bad. shampoo is suppose to clean your scalp and near the roots. it can dry the ends, so you use conditioner on the ends. the more you wash, the worse, because it gets rid of the good oils in your hair that make it soft. you are suppose to shampoo when you get excess oil in your hair.
its not good for your hair
iT HAS NO EFFECT IT MAY MAKE YOUR HAIR GROW FASTER THAN USUAL I DID THAT BEFOR BUT IT DOES PEOPLE DIFERNT IN OTHER WAYS
I wouldnt suggest doing that because it is bad for your hair and it washes out all of the oils in your hair, which can lead it to becoming dry.
Yes, I think that it would have a major effect on your scalp, especially if you already have dandruff. Shampooing so often is going to aggrivate it. If you only do it whenever you shower, maybe you can try just rinsing your hair without the shampoo. Water can still dry your hair out but not as bad as using shampoo excessively in one day.
what? thats horrible for your hair. .lol. you should wash your hair once every other day becuz no matter how good the shampoo is it takes away the natural oils in ur hair tht ur hair needs to be healtly and alive.. so. if you keep washing your hair 3 times a day it will all fall out
You should not wash your hair that often. It is not good for it. Washing your hair pulls the natural oils out of your hair. This is not good your hair needs those oils to stay strong plus your scalp needs them so it doesn't get dry or flaky. Most people shouldn't even wash their hair everyday. Every other day or once every two or three days is better for you and your hair.
It strips every ounce of natural oils that your hair needs to look good. It isnt a good idea at all!
3 times a day? whoa thats just a little over board. you dont need to wash it that many times a day. you should wash it every other day.
i dont know ive never shampood 3 times a day.. i would think it would at least make your hair shinier!
you should NEVER shampoo your hair three times a day i think u should switch to another product ...sorry
shampooing three times a day is murder for your hair. it makes it totally weak and dry. Washing your hair every other day should keep your hair healthy. Hope that helps
It will dry out your hair extremely and over time can make hair brittle, weak and the consistency of straw. Try limiting yourself to shampooing once a day, so your hair's natural oils can naturally condition your hair.
it will dry out your hair a lot. unless you have really oily hair, then people should only wash their hair every other day even if you take a shower every day. good luck = ]
yes it certainly will have an effect because shampoos are made from chemicals it isn't made from a natural thing.

using too much of shampoo may cause your hair to fall
i dont think anyone should shampoo that often, there are essential oils in our hair that you would be stripping out by shampooing 3 times a day.
    Yes, it makes it scrunchy!!!!!!!
ive heard that shampoo makes your hair fall out
well yes it will because it will wipe away scalp cells and make your hair really ichy
over shampooing can do more bad than good for your hair... your hair has natural oils that lubricate the hair shaft,,,

it also causes impotence in lizards

Has anyone experienced any negative side-effects from ';Nizoral(ketoconazole)'; anti-fungal shampoo?

Ok, I'll admit I may have used this product excessively like an ordinary shampoo (didn't know it was medicinal) and now my hair is really bad. It's extremely dry (or damaged? I don't know) and within just 3 days becomes pretty oily (dry and oily? weird combination eh?). So has anyone experienced similar side-effects and do you have any explanation? (like interaction b/w nizoral contents and the protein in hair?)Has anyone experienced any negative side-effects from ';Nizoral(ketoconazole)'; anti-fungal shampoo?
Stop using it it might be on RECALL and if you think it's damageing your hair don't use it it just makes it worse try Dove it works with in a day with hair repair you will love it!!Has anyone experienced any negative side-effects from ';Nizoral(ketoconazole)'; anti-fungal shampoo?

Is garnier products lik hair color, shampoo, creams, are gud, or else is there any side effects in tat...?

there just may be, i use them and i am seeing alot of spelling errors, maybe that is a side effect, that or you don't speak english

Why do shampoos lose their effect, and you have to change brand?

OK, now you may think I've posted in the wrong section, but I'm a scientist dammit, I'm after a more scientific explanation than I'd get in a more general section. I have a suspicion that chemistry is the right angle to approach from.

Basically, I've always had this experience, whereby a shampoo that you've used for ages suddenly doesn't leave your hair shiny and smooth anymore, and you're left vaguely unsatisfied.

Then, you pick up another brand (I alternate between Pantene and the Aussie stuff) and the new brand gives you shiny silky smooth clean hair again. A couple of months later, the same thing recurs but now the original brand is the one that works better.

Maybe I'm imagining it, but it doesn't feel that way. All I know is it baffles me.Why do shampoos lose their effect, and you have to change brand?
Okay, I have no idea why but I absolutely agree!

I thought it was just because I got bored/used to the smell and texture and I needed something different to really be able to SEE the improvement.

Does just conditioning dogs have the same effect as shampooing?

i know that shampooing a dog too often can strip natural oils etc, but if you just condition them every few days does it do the same? conditioner is more moisturising i thought..? i shampoo once a month...Does just conditioning dogs have the same effect as shampooing?
Conditioner won't dry the coat out, but, it will start to build up and attract dirt.

Try this, bathe your dog no more often than once a week in an oatmeal based DOG Shampoo, followed up with an oatmeal based conditioner, or remoisturizer.

www.espree.com sells a really good line of oatmeal shampoos and a GREAT remoisurizer, called Luxury Remoisturizer. I use this line in my grooming shop and bathe and condition my show Havanese and Afghans in it weekly. It's great stuff.Does just conditioning dogs have the same effect as shampooing?
conditioner wont really ';clean';.. its designer to moisture the coat.

daily brushing will remove dirt, debris and loose hairs more effectivly... I dont think I'd want to condition my dog's coat every few days unless the dog has excessivly dry skin/coat.
This depends on whether your dog is long haired or short.

I've bred and shown dogs for over 31 years and these are all bath weekly.

My Lhasa Apso's are shampooed and conditioned the day before the show. During the week they are groomed daily and sprayed with a mix of babyoil, conditioner and water (equal parts).

My Boston's are bathed fortnightly ... shampoo / conditioner and brushed daily (they insist).

All my dogs have fantastic shiny correct coats.

Feed them right and keep them fresh and clean and you'll have no problems.

  • Does conditioner have negative effects like shampoo does?

I've constantly read that shampooing often (every day) strips hair of natural oils, creates dependency, leads to dry hair, etc. Obviously conditioner is meant to remedy this, but I've read that many people just wash their hair with conditioner. Does this still strip hair of natural oils? Or have other negative effects?

I'll take any suggestions you have for minimizing the greasiness that occurs when I don't wash my hair every day without making my hair dry.

Also, please answer my other hair question here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AmcOvvQqxXh_zK0qTZUHWC_sy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20090917165640AAnWSLm

I already picked a best answer, but I'm new here so humor me. :) Thanks.Does conditioner have negative effects like shampoo does?
nope conditioner is great to soften hair making more shiny nice I use a conditioner every time I wash my hair if not it gets frizzy.

also don't use it on you scalp just on your hair if you use on your scalp you hair gets weak and it fall out easily.

for greasy hair is better not to use it oily scalp it just make it more oily .Does conditioner have negative effects like shampoo does?
Well the shampoo is what rids the greasiness. If you wash just with conditioner, it will make it very greasy. That's the only side effect I can think of.

Are there bad side effects to using a for-brunettes shampoo, if my hair is not ENTIRELY brown?

My hair is only brown at the back part. I was just wondering if using the shampoo would make my hair seem more brown, even to the front?

PS: the shampoo is found here.

http://www.johnfrieda.com/products/products_main.asp?section=products%26amp;subSection=brilliantBrunette%26amp;lineID=2Are there bad side effects to using a for-brunettes shampoo, if my hair is not ENTIRELY brown?
nah it just will enhance the brown part, it won't make the blonde part go brown cos its not like a hairdye

edit: get the colour glazeAre there bad side effects to using a for-brunettes shampoo, if my hair is not ENTIRELY brown?
I have golden blonde hair and actually used that john frieda brunette shampoo (I got a sample) it made my hair a bit darker kinda brassy looking. Nothing major, but there was a noticeable difference.
No of course there wont be bad side effects.

they probably only say for brown hair so more brunettes buy it.
test it in a small area first and make sure your hair won't fall out.
    No,it won't do much.Don't worry =-)

Do hair color shampoos that are lighter than the hair have any effect at all?

Ihave drak brown to black hair with medium brwn highlits. If I by a color shampoo that is lighter, like blond or light brown, will it make any difference on my hair at all? or is it that only the shampoos that are darker than hair do have any effect?

I'm not interested in permanent colring.Do hair color shampoos that are lighter than the hair have any effect at all?
no they don't have any lifting power....if your hair is very porous meaning dry damaged it might take to the color and really soak it up but their is no chance that you could become lighter in color only darkerDo hair color shampoos that are lighter than the hair have any effect at all?
color shampoos only enhance the color you have

for blonde's it could change brassiness by using a blue shampoo

redheads and brunettes using a reddening shampoo can make it shinier

if you are looking to do a little change with your color.. try to use a color mousse after you wash and condition your hair

it won't make it blonder.. but you can add a slight red cast to your hair that is pretty on darker hair

    and it washes out
NO Im sorry. I have actually tried this b/c my hair is about the same as your (dark, dark brown w/ red highlights) You might want to try a temp color that washes out in about 10 washes or a demi permenant that fades away in about 3months that way you dont have to wait for it to grow off, which takes forever
The only way for your shampoo to lighten your hair would be if you are using a bad shampoo...aka a cheap shampoo.
No, those shampoos don't have much effect at all.

They're really bad shampoos because they actually include oil in their formula, which makes your hair greasy before you even step out of the shower. Who wants that?

What is the effect of the formaldehyde content in shampoos and conditioners to human health?

before formaldehyde was even used to embalm bodies, it was first used as a hair cleanser by the early people probably egyptians. so from that i can conclude that it should have no destructive effect to people, afterall we have been using these products for decades..What is the effect of the formaldehyde content in shampoos and conditioners to human health?
formaldehyde is very bad for our skin because it removes to much oil in our scalp that causes it to have dandruff's. it also causes our scalps or skins to have not so important nutrients in our hair of our scalps

    Specific detox shampoo (and effects)?

i recently found this shampoo and did extensive research on it, but couldn't find any information on if it got things such as marijuana out of your hair so if anyone knows if it does, your answers will be much appreciatedSpecific detox shampoo (and effects)?
Sorry. It won't work. In comparison to a urinalysis drug test, cocaine, PCP, opiates, and methamphetamine have proven hair analysis far more effective than urine testing in identifying low-level drug use over an extended period of time since these are normally out of the bloodstream in within 3-7 days (see drug detection times). The detection of marijuana is currently less sensitive than the other drugs in identifying low level drug users, but is considered approximately equal to urinalysis in identifying marijuana users. The detection period for hair is limited only by the length of the hair sample and is approximately 90 days for a standard screen. After a substance is ingested, whether orally, smoked, snorted, or injected, metabolites are produced as the drug is processed by the human body. As these drugs and metabolites circulate in the blood stream, they enter and nourish the hair follicle and are then inserted into the hair strand. You can't wash it out.Specific detox shampoo (and effects)?
Sweetie...there's absolutely nothing on the planet that will remove your ';history'; from your hair. Sorry to break it to you, but yer pretty much screwwed. Even if you shave your head...they'll go for eyebrow hair, pubics, legs, arms..wherever there's hair is ';history';. That's just the way it is.

    I wish you well.
well sorry to upset you but nothing will happen
Only chemicaly enducded shampoos can detox your hair and even with that there are still many traces of drugs in your hair. They are not open to the public and if you use them they can be identified in your hair. People that take drug samples will be able to see that you have used it.

My uncle is a drug detective.
    NO NO

I just don't get people it's against the law, employers will do drug test so if you want a good job then STOP USING DRUGS! Nothing is going to take it out of your system! And now they have a test that will detect if you used something to help you pass the drug test!
Nothing will wash the chemicals out of the hair shaft or cuticle.

Dentinox cradle cap shampoo... side effects?

The shampoo seems to have highlighted his cradle cap in bright red!Dentinox cradle cap shampoo... side effects?
I found that too - I never used it again. My daughter is now 3 and has dermatitis on her scalp - I'm not blaming that shampoo, I'm saying that she obviously has a very sensitive scalp.

If the cradle cap comes back - give him a bath and wash his hair well, then just use a fine toothed plastic nit comb to pull the gunk out. It's not pleasant, but it's gentle and it works. I did that with my second and it hasn't came back since.Dentinox cradle cap shampoo... side effects?
I'm not sure if this will help you as i have not used Dentinx cradle cap but i have used Dentinox colic drops. I took my daughter off it after a week of using it, It smelt very strong, too strong. Tasted terrible! I wouldn't put it in my mouth and didn't want to put it in hers and her stools went very watery. I thought it was really bad and chucked it in the bin! As a result of it i don't like the brand Dentinox and think it's way too strong for babies! Sounds like it could be the same with the shampoo judging by what you say. I'd use a different brand i was you.
    Hi There

We had the same problem, and also had the redness all over my wee man's body as I wash his hair while in the bath so I stopped using it.

My health visitor said to use Aqueos Cream, you can get it at the chemist - it has helped though maybe not as quickly as the Dentinox would have.

    Good luck

    x
Oh, I used it on my LO when she was younger and she was fine, i don't remember it making her head red!!!

Is there a number on the bottle or the box you could ring and speak to them? If not then maybe stop using it for a week or so till it goes and try using it again to see of it still happens?
It's the rubbing action you use to massage the shampoo into the scalp that causes the redness. Don't worry it will subside as the day goes on.

Try olive oil, it sounds gross but it works a treat!
I used it from time to time and didn't have this problem. It cleared up the cradle cap with no side effects. But you should stop using it. Try olive oil. It's supposed to work just as well.
    oh dear :(

the best thing to treat cradle cap is good old olive oil, leave it on his head overnight, and the next morning the cradle cap will lift right off :)

    Take care you, Lulu x

Hi! do shampoos and hair oil really effect hair growth,or is it just good diet that works?

Technically no...shampoos with not make your hair grow faster however using products such as Mane N Tail, Long Term Relationship, or any long hair formula products can help make hair stronger and protect it from damage.

If your hair is damaged, you will have split ends and your hair will break off causing your hair growth to be unnoticable.

Get regular trims, use a strengthening shampoo %26amp; conditioner, drink 8+glasses of water a day, and if you are in doubt of your diet- supplement with pre natal vitamins. They are inexpensive and can be purchased over the counter at any drug store.

Good luck!Hi! do shampoos and hair oil really effect hair growth,or is it just good diet that works?
Its a mix of both... Shampoos and oils act like extra pampering to your hair, but good diet is essential. Even cosliest shampoos will fail if your hair do not recieve proper nutrition from good diet.Hi! do shampoos and hair oil really effect hair growth,or is it just good diet that works?
It's really BOTH. Vitamins like Vitamin E and Kertain will help ALOT. But it's also the physical factors. If you are using a good shampoo, it'll protect your hair from damage and keep it soft and good looking. Even if you are super healthy, if you are bleaching your hair all the time, eventually it will break off!
    hi dear !

shampoos can dameg your hair but oil which contain protain are benefishel for your hair.
Neem and curry leaves are good for the hair, and also it is good to brush your hair three times a day ... once in the morning, once during the afternoon, and once at night before retiring ... it keeps your hair in good condition, stimulates the scalp and makes you feel good, neat and clean .... in addition, it is best to keep the ends trimmed evenly ....Good diet is always advisable !

Where can i find an anti dandruff shampoo that doesnt have any harmful side effects?

    Dandruff treatment using Fenugreek Seeds

The use of fenugreek seeds is one of the most important remedies in the treatment of dandruff. Two tablespoons of these seeds should be soaked overnight in water and ground into a fine paste in the morning. This paste should be applied all over the scalp and left for half an hour. The hair should then be washed thoroughly with soap-nut (ritha) solution or shikakai.

    Dandruff treatment using Lime

The use of a teaspoon of fresh lime juice for the last rinse, while washing the hair, is another useful remedy. This not only leaves the hair glowing but also removes stickiness and prevents dandruff.

Dandruff treatment using Green Gram Powder

A valuable prescription for removal of dandruff is the use of green gram powder. The hair should be washed twice a week with two tablespoons of this powder mixed with half a cup of curd.

    Dandruff treatment using Beet

Beets have been found useful in dandruff. Both tops and roots should be boiled in water and this water should be massaged into the scalp with the finger tips every night. White beet is better for this purpose.

    Dandruff treatment using Snake Gourd

The juice of snake gourd has been found beneficial in the prevention and treatment of dandruff. The juice should be rubbed over the scalp for this purpose.

    Dandruff treatment using Other Remedies

Dandruff can be removed by massaging the hair for half an hour with curd which has been kept in the open for three days, or with a few drops of lime juice mixed with amla juice every night, before going to bed. Another measure which helps to counteract dandruff is to dilute cider vinegar with an equal quantity of water and dab this on to the hair with cotton wool inbetween shampooing. Cider vinegar added to the final rinsing water after shampooing also helps to disperse dandruff.

    Dietaries for Dandruff

Dandruff : Home Remedies suggested by users

All-fruit diet with three meala a day of juicy fruits

Diet plays an important role in the treatment of dandruff. To begin with, the patient should resort to an all-fruit diet for about five days and take three meals a day of juicy fruits.

Avoid citrus fruits, bananas, tinned fruits

Citrus fruits, bananas, dried, stewed, or tinned fruits should not be taken.

    Well-balanced diet

After the all-fruit diet, the patient can gradually adopt a well-balanced diet, with emphasis on raw foods, especially fresh fruits and vegetables. Further short periods of an all-fruit diet for three days or so may be necessary at monthly intervals till the skin's condition improves.

Avoid strong tea/coffee, pickles, refined and processed foods

Meats, sugar, white flour, strong tea or coffee, condiments, pickles, refined and processed foods should all be avoided.

    Other Dandruff treatments

Keep hair and scalp clean to avoid accumulation of dead cells

The foremost consideration in the treatment of this disorder is to keep the hair and scalp clean so as to minimise the accumulation of dead cells.

Hair should be brushed daily to improve circulation

The hair should be brushed daily to improve the circulation and remove any flakiness. The most effective way to brush the hair is to bend forward from the waist with the head down towards the ground, and brush from the nape of the neck towards the top of the head. The scalp should also be thoroughly massaged everyday, using one's finger tips and working systematically over the head. This should be done just before or after brushing the hair. Like brushing, this stimulates the circulation, dislodges dirt and dandruff, and encourages hair growth. Exposure of the head to the rays of the sun is also a useful measure in the treatment of dandruff.

    Warm-water enema

During the first five days of the treatment when the patient takes an all-fruit diet, a warm-water enema should be taken daily to cleanse the bowels. Simultaneously, an attempt should be made to keep the body in good health.Where can i find an anti dandruff shampoo that doesnt have any harmful side effects?
You can use any dandruff shampoo but it will work better if you follow this method. Mix 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and 6 tablespoons of hot water.Dab with cotton into the scalp, parting the hair with a comb.It should preferably be used at bed time. Next morning shampoo the hair. More simple remedies for dandruff at http://usefulinfo-dandruff.blogspot.com/Where can i find an anti dandruff shampoo that doesnt have any harmful side effects?
head and shoulders works well but the trick to any dandruff shampoo is to get it to the scalp wet the hair wash it once with the shampoo then get a mirror sit down and apply the shampoo in parted sections over the whole head let the shampoo sit on the scalp for about ten minutes then rinse well this should control the dandruff a little while longer
I use Avon's 2-in-1 Dandruff Shampoo and Conditioner. It smells good and I use it at least twice a wk to wash my hair.Go to www.youravon.com
Head and Shoulders is good, cause it makes your hair healthy and really bouncy and shiny, too!

How to get rid of dandruff? I have tried abti dandruff shampoos but no effect'?

Rinse your hair really well after shampooing. Make sure you use a conditioner,

also you could try a more chemical free shampoo,go to your nearest health shop %26amp; ask for advice, %26amp; also from this site:

PS. Free P%26amp;P if you order online. How to get rid of dandruff? I have tried abti dandruff shampoos but no effect'?
There used to be products called Selsun of Lenium. They both worked. Try your chemist and see if you can still get them.
I used head and shoulders it didn't get rid of my dandruff it irritated my scalp, that was years ago and my hair was jet black, I now have blond hair as I started to go grey at 15. A few months ago I started again with dandruff and my scalp was itchy I kept saying I had a scabby head cause I would scratch it and I'd make it bleed, I was given a prescription for some Nizoral and it worked no itching and no dandruff, it is expensive around 7 to 8 pound but well worth it.
Your doctor lies that anti dandruff shampoos are scams, i use head and shoulders and haven't had dandruff for ages.
my doctor said anti dandruff shampoos are a scam , he said the best thing for dandruff is e45 he said even though its just a cream it moisturises the scalp and cleans it better than any shampoo
The best anti dandruff shampoo by far is Nizoral. But you have to use it a few times for it to work. You can buy it in the chemist or in larger supermarkets - white and red packaging.
A herbal rinse is a safe method of removing dandruff. Apply lemon juice with the rind on the scalp .After 5 minutes wash off with shampoo and water. More simple remedies for dandruff at http://usefulinfo-dandruff.blogspot.com/

Shampoo Question: If you use Tresemme Curl Shampoo and use a different conditioner will there be no effect?

I use Tresemme Curl shampoo but use Pantene moisturizing conditioner. I'm afraid that when I use the conditioner it washes away the curl-benefiting effects of the Curl shampoo. Then if it does, that would be a total waste of money!

    Please answer!

:) Thanks!Shampoo Question: If you use Tresemme Curl Shampoo and use a different conditioner will there be no effect?
The moisturizing conditioner will weigh down your hair so it it will effect the curling shampoo.Shampoo Question: If you use Tresemme Curl Shampoo and use a different conditioner will there be no effect?
It will still condition your hair and it will add a slight wave to it but it will not turn out as good as it would if you used the curly conditioner

PS. it really doesn't make it that curly

Is this a possible side effect of Selenium Sulfide 2.25% Shampoo?

A few days ago, I started taking this Selenium Sulfide shampoo. But, since I started taking it, I have had a weird taste in my mouth. I think it tastes like the shampoo, although I am not quite sure. I have never tasted anything like this while having a cold, so I don't think that would be it.

Is it possible this gross taste which never goes away be from Selenium Sulfide shampoo somehow? How might it happen and how do I get rid of it?

Also, let me know if you do not think it is an effect of the shampoo. Thanks. Is this a possible side effect of Selenium Sulfide 2.25% Shampoo?
There are two possibilities. One is that a little of the shampoo may have accidentally gotten in your mouth (like if you opened your mouth while shampooing your hair or when washing the shampoo out).

Another is that your sense of smell does affect your sense of taste. Have you noticed how things don't taste as well when you have a cold or when they taste better when you can smell a strong aroma? It's the nature of how the body works.

Yet another possibility is that you're getting too much Selenium between your diet and what is absorbed through your scalp.

The best way to find out would be to switch back to the last shampoo you used until the weird taste has gone away for a few days, then try the Selenium shampoo for a couple days to see if the taste comes back. If it comes back, then just stop using it. Good luck and I hope I helped! Is this a possible side effect of Selenium Sulfide 2.25% Shampoo?
Your not supposed to drink it. A side effect of shampoo is a rash or irritated skin, itchy scalp. Try brushing your teeth, with mouth wash.

  • My hair is long and dry.. i just tried good shampoo n conditioner.. but i ***** get silk n shiny effect.helpme

Use a special shampoo made for long and strong hair or for hydrating hair (depending on which kind of hair you want)

I would reccomend Garnier Fructis Long %26amp; Strong if you want Long and Strong hair

Herbal Essences or Sunsilk has a shampoo for hydrating hair. Try one of those for none dry hair.

Since your hair is dry, it may be because of heat damage. Dry hair means it's been damaged. Do you use a curling iron or hair straightener? If you do, make sure to buy a heat protective spray and spray on your hair before yousing the heat tools. Or you can stop exposing your hair to too much heat.

There are plenty of shampoos out there for damaged hair. Get a pharamist in your department store to suggest some good shampoos. DON'T underspend for crappy shampoo. If it's good, and it costs more than usual, get it. It's better than wasting yor money on other cheaper products that don't work!

Hope this helps! My hair is long and dry.. i just tried good shampoo n conditioner.. but i ***** get silk n shiny effect.helpme
There are several things you can do to make your hair healthy and shiny.

    1) apply henna paste in your hair;

    2) apply an egg about 30 minutes before your shower

    3) apply olive, almond, or any pure oil you like in your scalp, leave on overnite and wash the next day

    4) do not use chemicals in your hair

    5) use a herbal shampoo

try not to use any cosmetics in your hair. They all do damage to your hair. After all, they have very strong chemicals in them which only give you a quick shine but long term damage. whereas the natural remedies do not have any side effects and will improve the texture. My hair is long and dry.. i just tried good shampoo n conditioner.. but i ***** get silk n shiny effect.helpme
Beat an egg in a cup of milk. When it foams, rub it into the scalp.Leave it on for 5 minutes. Rinse the hair thoroughly with water.Carry out this routine twice a week for excellent results for dry damaged hair. Check out http://solutionsfordryhair.blogspot.com/ for more info.
Did you try Himalaya shampoo? My hair was also dry and weak but I tried Himalaya and now its much better and silky. Try Himalaya, if haven't so far. Its good. I think it will work.
How often do you wash your hair? If you wash it every day, then stop. Just wash it every two or three days. Shampoo only the roots of your hair and condition only the ends.
    mustard oil is da solution...or

if u mix yugurt and honey and apply it onto ur hair...it makes ur hair silky and shiny....but i think yogurt and honey will b best 4 u...mix them and aply them..leave them on for 2-3hours.. then wash it off...

What is the effect of honey in hair shampoo? There is a fear that honey whitens black hair.?

No one I read said anything about fading hair. Just suppose to mosturize dry hair and put the shine back! Here are some recipes I found while browsing.

Work 1/2 cup through your hair (using more or less according to your hair length).

Put a plastic shower cap or bag over the hair for 20 to 30 minutes to let your body heat optimize the conditioning benefit of the honey, then shampoo and rinse thoroughly.

The extremes of heat and cold we endure throughout winter can make even the greatest of hair look and feel like straw. This nourishing conditioner blends honey for shine; olive oil for moisture and essential oil of rosemary to stimulate hair growth.

    Ingredients

    125 ml (1/2 cup) honey

60 ml (1/4 cup) warmed olive oil (2 Tbsp. for normal to oily hair)

4 drops essential oil of rosemary

1 tsp. xanthum gum (available in health food stores)

    To prepare

Place all the ingredients in a small bowl and mix thoroughly. Pour into a clean plastic bottle with a tight fitting stopper or lid.

    To use

Apply a small amount at a time to slightly dampened hair.

Massage scalp and work mixture through hair until completely coated. Cover hair with a warm towel (towel can be heated in a microwave or dryer) or shower cap; leave on to nourish and condition for 30 minutes.

Remove towel or shower cap; shampoo lightly and rinse with cool water. Dry as normal and enjoy shinier, softer and healthier hair the natural way.

    To prepare

Mix 125 ml (1/2 cup) honey and 60 ml (1/4 cup) olive oil. (Use 2 tbsp. oil for normal hair.)

    To use

Work a small amount at a time through hair until coated.

Cover hair with a shower cap; leave on 30 minutes.

Remove shower cap; shampoo well and rinse. Dry as normal.

    To prepare

Stir 1 tsp. honey into 4 cups (1 litre) warm water. Blondes may wish to add a squeeze of lemon.

    To use

After shampooing, pour mixture through hair. Do not rinse out. Dry as normal.

    Hi,

First of all it is necessary to oil massage the hairat least once a week with a good hair oil. Acombination of 1 tablsp of coconut oil and 1 tsp of almond oil is good.Massage well into the hair especially the scalp with genle finger tips. Then dip a thin towel in hot water and wring it well and tie this hot towel in your head for 2 mins.Repeat this for 3 to 4 times.Rest for half hour and then use a mild shampp and a good conditioner to wash your hair.Regular use of shampoo without oil massage can lead to rough and dry hair and there can be split ends too.To remove split ends have a trim once a month.
girl! dont worry, u just apply ''parachute therapie'' oil on ur hair 2 make it soft, thick and to prevent hair falling... the best thing is 2 apply it and massage ur head and i noe its hard 2 have oil on ur head for hours in summers but apply dat oil and keep it on ur hair for atleast 2 days.... after two days wash ur hair wid fiamma di wills shampoo and and fiamma di wills conditioner..... den apply ''livon'' after washing ur hair, after one day again apply oil and leave for 2 days and repeat the whole process... slowly when ur hair starts improving, reduce the time u leave oil on ur hair..... okay?

listen dont think dat its a joke i had the same problem as urs, and i did this thing in winters and it was little less troubled than doing it in summers and my hair is now shiny and thick........ so go and try it.. it will realy work...
Avon makes some products that will help you...Sleek and smooth shampoo and conditioner...and hair blam. You can order from me at www.youravon.com I use the product and they are WONDERFUL and do not cost a lot!
For rough hair use mild conditioner .U can prepare in home it self . Mix curd and lemon its works like conditioner and remove dandruff. Apply this twice a week. And apply heena its really good for hair.
if u've got split ends nothing will help, you have to get em cut and then ty john friedas frizz ease prducts!11!

Is It All just a scam?Is there any proven effect in using natural products such as body wash/shampoo/deodorant etc.?
Natural products are more nourishing to your skin. Chemicals in most body products can be very irrating. I find it's nice to use a combination of natural and science products on my body. However, lots of products claiming to be natural ARE scamming you. The best natural products can be make in your kitchen.

i read an article today that said apple cyder vinegar might have an effect on dandruff
well you shouldnt use dandruff shampoo anyway....it usually works for a couple of washes and then your hair gets used to it and then the dandruff comes back.......

i would suggest changing to different shampoo's every couple of washes........

    DONT use Head and Shoulders!!!!!!!!
    effect on what?
The best shampoo to use would be an umparfumed PH balancing shampoo, anti dandruff shampoo can be to strong sometimes becuse it strips the scalp so can ruin your hair.
After you get your hair wet to wash it, pour your usual amount of shampoo into your hand and add about a 1/2 a teaspoon of regular table salt to it. Mix it up with your finger and shampoo as usual.
wow....i have dandruff before...now no more...as i have been using a dandruff shampoo called ' Nizoral' ,made in Belgium...i mix it with my normal shampoo and apply on my hair...leave it 5 minutes before rinsing...and now i having long and smooth hair without dandruff anymore...really effective. This shampoo was introduced by a pharmacist of a drugstore...i think u can find this at any drugstore or pharmacy..use this few times and you will see the result!

i know that the plants will die but im doing a science experiment for school and i need a scientific reason. please helpDoes shampoo or washing up detergent have an effect on plant growth? if so wat sort of effect and how does it?
First you could look at the label and see if it contains any potentially harmful chemicals to plants, such as sodium, boron, and chlorides or mineral nutrients that plants require, such as potassium, nitrogen, phosphorus,

magnesium, calcium, sulfate, etc. Most detergents no longer contain high levels of phosphorus, because phosphates in detergents were once a major water pollution problem.

Another thing to do is to contact the manufacturer and ask if they have any information on its effects on plants. Many products have a toll-free phone number on the package.

If you have access to an electrical conductivity (EC) meter, an EC reading on the wash water might indicate if there was a problem with high salinity.

Do a web search for gray water, because many environmentalists advocate using laundry water, bath water, etc. for plant irrigation.

Does mane and tail shampoo and conditioner have any bad effects?

I really need to make my hair look a lot thicker even when i straighten it. will this work or even help at all?Does mane and tail shampoo and conditioner have any bad effects?
The only bad thing it does is that it MIGHT cause a waxy buildup on hair. But some people have better luck and it does make their hair thicker and healthier. It didn't work for me, though. I would suggest using a volumizing mousse before straightening (:Does mane and tail shampoo and conditioner have any bad effects?
Other than it smells really bad, no. The smell is really bad, it is made for horses you know...:-(
Its so funny you ask that..It atually works pretty well. My grandma used to use it long ago when it first came out. She passed with a head full of thick hair lol
im not sure but i heard that it makes your hair smell absolutely terrible

I have psosaris on my scalp starting from the hairline I'm worried shampoo's etc will effect hair any solution

With psoriasis, your best bet is to check with a doctor, preferably a dermatologist, and get his advice, as to what shampoo is best for you.I have psosaris on my scalp starting from the hairline I'm worried shampoo's etc will effect hair any solution
Go to a specialist. Psoriasis can be controlled but you need the supervision of a doctor, as it varies from person to person, and he/she will prescribe you all sort of additional treatments to soften the layers of excess skin.

However, I can tell you that you should eat a lot of fresh vegetables fruit, take vitamin supplements, and avoid red meat, these measures help to fight back psoriasis.

I know it's a terrible skin disease, my sister, mother and father have it.I have psosaris on my scalp starting from the hairline I'm worried shampoo's etc will effect hair any solution
t gel shampoo worked wonders for me and there was a big improvement after the first time using it,its worth trying it,hope it works for you
polytar shampoo or neutrogena is very good with these sorts of conditions. however if it is persistant or deteriorating you should see your doctor for him to provide some topical steroids for short term use as these would really help.

    Brijette of Bettendorf, Iowa writes us, ';My Chiropractor told me to use vinegar on my baby girl's cradle cap. I applied it straight and let it sit for 10 minutes before her bath. I've done this only four times now and her cradle cap is almost gone already!!! Maybe this straight vinegar treatment could work for other scalp problems as well.';

    Anne writes, '; I have dark hair which is very oily. I use apple cider vinegar as a hair rinse, it helps to dissolve buildup, which results in much shinier hair. It has also been very beneficial for my dandruff.';

    A reader from Boston, MA writes, ';I'm so happy that I found this site. I have applied straight apple cider vinegar 30 min before washing my hair and the flaking is almost gone. It has taken five treatments and WOW what a difference. It make my hair shiny too (extra bonus).';

    good luck...
my mum had psosaris for years. There was a soap she used to buy which looked like a brown tar soap. A guy was making it in his own home and selling it cheaply. A huge pharmaceutical company offered him a fantastic amount so they could buy the patent and make it as the demand was spreading and he couldn't keep up. The reason this story made the news years ago was because the guy was furious as they then refused to make it as it affected the sales of their other psosaris products as it was so good it cured people - and they owned the patent therefore no one else was allowed to make it either.

He lived in the north east of england somewhere - dont know how long patents last but someone reading this may know how to re discover this soap
Denorex! Follow the directions. Works great. Doctor recommended. No fee
I have psoriasis and use Polytar Scalp Treatment. It works for me.
Go to the health food store and they have every kind of hair solution and shampoo you need to fix your scalp.
Try TGel shampoo it very effective
I have had Psoriasis. The only effective treatment I have found is the MG217 product line. It has cleared up the major 'patches' for me.

I haven't found any problems with the condition of my hair due to this - in fact normal shampoos seem to do more damage, and make the Psoriasis worse...

Have psosaris on my scalp starting from the hairline I'm worried shampoo's etc will effect hair any solution

If you're in the UK Nutrogena sensitive scalp shampoo is really good.Have psosaris on my scalp starting from the hairline I'm worried shampoo's etc will effect hair any solution
My mum has this and no longer uses chemical shampoos and has seen great improvement. A good place to start is LUSH they have great natural remedies, based on same charcoal principle but just less chemicals. Other options are on line organic toiletries websites.Have psosaris on my scalp starting from the hairline I'm worried shampoo's etc will effect hair any solution
im disabled in a wheelchair and have psosaris on my scalp i use either polytar shampoo or alphysol shampoo its very good
Please go to this site %26amp; type in psoriasis (correct spelling) or relevant word in search ,it's a gem a site on natural remedies that work.
you should go to boots and by some nizoral shampoo, its specially for psosaris.
I also have a bad case of psoriasis I use a shampoo called Cutar, and or I use a therapeutic shampoo. As for your question shampoo's with fragrance in them can cause more irritation for you psoriasis So try to stick to shampoo's with out fragrance I found that head and shoulders didn't irritate my skin at all so it may work for you too.
hi desi girl - i suggest two routes 1) go to a good chemist %26amp; ask their recommendation. 2) find a good alternative therapy/health shop like say holland%26amp; barrat - sometimes they have really good knowledgeable staff who can offer a good natural solution.
go for neutrogena - stinks a bit but it`s good,
Just answered this for someone else?!

The best solution I have found is to use the mg217 product line. great for the skin and does less damage than normal shampoos!

Some additional tips that have helped me:

-Lose weight (only if you are overweight!!) ---I was!

-Reduce stress...easy to say...hard to do

-Take 'Cod liver Oil' drops - good fro your general health, but seems to help with keeping the skin moist.

-When I used the MG217 on my skin - the reduction in 'visible' areas made me more confident thus the scalp cleared up.

-Change your diet (if you have a bad diet!) - I found that a diet that was more balanced, with more vegtables and fish, really helped improve my skin
Betnovare scalp application is excellent for your condition, only avaliable from doctors, ive been using it for years, and its a great product

No its the conditioner that gives ur hair the moisture and strength that is needs to grow.

If you are wanting ur hair to grow I have a few tips that could help (if not sorry I guess ignore what I'm about to say)

Prenatal Vitamins!!! A must just be careful if you are sexually active for the make you more fertile. They give you a little extra vitamins that will help you hair

Don't wash ur hair too often- Shampoo will dry ur hair out and make it loose the natural oils it needs to grow.

Brush (comb- to avoid breakage) ur hair ALOT! This will massage the hair follicles and release the natural oils that help with growth.

Condition Condition Condition! Keep ut hair moist (not oily and damp- just not dry and brittle)

Also keep up with the dead stuff. I suggest getting ur hair TRIMMED every 6 weeks to get rid of the old dead and keep the new healthy and strong!

    I hope I could help!

It will not effect the rate of growth one bit - but it may effect the condition of the hair.
No I did it before and it didnt.
no! you keep asking this question and soon every one will just ignore it !

  • How long does it take to see the effects of a shampoo..?

I have damaged hair, and I'm thinking of using this shampoo:

    http://www.pantene.com/en-US/product/moi鈥?/a>

Do you think I will get good results right after the first use?

Or how long does it usually take?

How many times would I need to use it before seeing a result?

Also, do you think I can still straighten my hair after the first use, if it has no effect, but still use the shampoo everyday, until I wouldn't need to use the straightener anymore?

help! How long does it take to see the effects of a shampoo..?
A month or so, or until the bottle is gone. Normally you have to use the conditioner, too, though. Good Luck! How long does it take to see the effects of a shampoo..?

i would say about a few weeks or so.
    pantene isnt good.

What are the pros and cons for the effect of shampoos on the tensile strength of hair??

The easiest way to answer the question is to contact a shampoo manufacturing company and talk to a scientist in the product development/testing department. (try several companies, like Lor茅al or Revlon, Est茅e Lauder, etc., check the net as it will give you an 800 number for any of them). Second best is to contact the dermatology department at the nearest medical school or teaching hospital. The third best is to test it yourself. The fourth is for me to take an educated guess. Hair is primarily, made form the organic polymer keratin. Detergents should not affect keratin, as it is a protein. Unless the oils and sebum that coats hair somehow gives the hair tensile strength. Which I doubt highly. Detergents affect fats and oils by attaching to them at one end of the molecule and the other end is attracted to water molecules, which lifts the oils and into the wash water and they are rinsed away. Detergents can rupture cell walls but keratin is non-living material %26amp; is unaffected by such lysis.

    Hope that helps.

What will remove yellow stains from a white pony's coat?shampoo doesn't have any effect!?

our piebald cob has developed yellowy patches on his hind quarters and lower legs, (we think either from lying in his wee or rolling in the sand arena) we have tried all the usual shampoo, but it is not shifting. He suffers fron sweet itch so his skin is pretty sensitive, but we really would like to get him spotless for the showing season! Any advice greatly appreciated! :)What will remove yellow stains from a white pony's coat?shampoo doesn't have any effect!?
They make a special shampoo for cleaning white or light horses!--Cowboy Magic is one of them!--Check with your local feed or pet store! What will remove yellow stains from a white pony's coat?shampoo doesn't have any effect!?
I have two horses both shown all year round! All i use is tescos own blue shampoo, for some reason its really whitening! I dont think anyone who buys it actually uses it on themselves!!!

Either that or cowboy magic although thats really expensive.

Also for his sweet itch use benzyl benzoate, you get it from the chemist and its great at stopping them itching. One year my pony had NO mane, the next i used this and she didnt even rub! Also get a fly sheet to keep him clean :)
    I use

http://www.countrywidefarmers.co.uk/pws/鈥?/a> on my gray (he's near enough pure white) and its great - he comes in from the field with grass stains, rest his head on poo everything!) This is brilliant and you dont need to use that much - there is also a spray you can get that has the same effect that you can take to shows with you for emergencys! Or chalk!!! Good luck with yor showing!!!!
There are a number of special shampoos and products out there for this reason. Such examples are CDM Whitener Spray for last minute show preparation and stable stains, CDM Dreamcoat Shampoo for various colour horses, Gallop Stain Removing Shampoo which removes ingrained, stubborn stains, etc. The only unfortunate thing is that theses products are more costly than the usual shampoos but I think in the long run they're worth it. The spray sounds like the best choice to me because it helps with last minute stains etc. Before you buy a product though check with your vet or trainer if it's safe to use on your horses sensitive skin.
Try using chalk, rub it in well then brush it out and it should take most of the marks out.
    Dulux One-Coat - Brilliant White. 拢15.99 for 5 litres. B%26amp;Q
Try a whitening shampoo. I don't know that they have them for horses but they do for dogs so you will be able to find some either way. The whitening shampoo does wonders. Good luck!
We have palominos, which also stain not only on the body but their manes and tails do too. We use Mane 'n Tail Shampoo and conditioner and like it so much use it ourselves!!! It also re hydrates the hair so it doesn't soak up the stains so bad. (By the way it can be used on horses or humans - I wouldn't use most of the other stuff on myself!) There are other whitening shampoos but they don't seem to have a lasting effect.

    http://www.tackshop-online.com/shampoosa鈥?/a>
chalk always works also there is many shampoo's on the maket designed for grey horse's but as he is a coloured i wouldnt recommend using as will turn his black patches 2 a slightly green tinge.

    chalk.
If you can get it, the EZ ALL brand of shampoo is great for taking out yellow stains, and is very good with sensitive skin. Has no perfume or dye, so it is pretty earth friendly to. I have used this on my paints and it works very well.
try white and brite shampoo and take a new toilet brush or a hard brush like a toilet brush and start scrubbing

also try using WD-40..i know it sounds weird but try it...but first try a little on a patch of his skin that is really small so you know he isnt allergic to it.

Also green spot remover from Cowboy Magic too....

    good luck!
You could also try a baking soda paste. It's natually whitening and gentle. Just smear it on give it a little time to work and wash out normally. If he gets a spot right before a show have some cornstarch or baby powder on hand to rub into his coat to cover the stain. Quick Silver was the best shampoo we found for our spotted pony it gives a silvery sheen, Quick Color by the same maker whitens as well but gets them snowy white. Good luck
    white paint
    Blue shampoo
try some gas,and a wire brush. Or just paint it whatever color you want. I have a blue pony myself
    never eat yellow snow
    Bleach

Would using shampoo after conditioner reverse the effects?

Every time after I wash my hair with just using shampoo, my hair doesn't come out as soft but much less frizzy. if you have fine hair, conditioning first may be beneficial

Im searching for the adverse effect of detergnt in shampoo on the skin?

including sodium lauryl sulphateIm searching for the adverse effect of detergnt in shampoo on the skin?
sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), is an ionic surfactant that is used in household products such as toothpastes, shampoos, shaving foams and bubble baths for its thickening effect and its ability to create a lather. The molecule has a tail of 12 carbon atoms, attached to a sulfate group, giving the molecule the amphiphilic properties required of a detergent.

An EPA survey concluded that indoor air was 3 to 70 times more polluted than outdoor air. Another EPA study stated that the toxic chemicals in household cleaners are 3 times more likely to cause cancer than outdoor air. CMHC reports that houses today are so energy efficient that ';out-gassing'; of chemicals has no where to go, so it builds up inside the home. We spend 90% of our time indoors, and 65% of that time at home. Moms, infants and the elderly spend 90% of their time in the home. National Cancer Association released results of a 15-year study concluding that women who work in the home are at a 54% higher risk of developing cancer than women who work outside the home. Cancer rates have almost doubled since 1960.. Cancer is the Number ONE cause of death for children.

There has been a 26% increase in breast cancer since 1982. Breast cancer is the Number ONE killer of women between the ages of 35 and 54. Primary suspects are laundry detergents, household cleaners and pesticides. There has been a call from the U.S./ Canadian Commission to ban bleach in North America. Bleach is being linked to the rising rates of breast cancer in women, reproductive problems in men and learning and behavioral problems in children. Chemicals get into our body through inhalation, ingestion and absorption. We breathe 10 to 20 thousand liters of air per day. There are more than 3 million poisonings every year. Household cleaners are the Number ONE cause of poisoning of children.

Since 1980, asthma has increased by 600%. The Canadian Lung Association and the Asthma Society of Canada identify common household cleaners and cosmetics as triggers. ADD/ADHD are epidemic in schools today. Behavioral problems have long been linked to exposure to toxic chemicals and molds. Chemical and environmental sensitivities are known to cause all types of headaches. Labeling laws do not protect the consumer - they protect big business. The New York Poison Control Center reports that 85% of product warning labels were either inadequate or incorrect for identifying a poison, and for first aid instructions. Formaldehyde, phenol, benzene, toluene, xylene are found in common household cleaners, cosmetics, beverages, fabrics and cigarette smoke. These chemicals are cancer causing and toxic to the immune system.

Chemicals are attracted to, and stored in fatty tissue. The brain is a prime target for these destructive organics because of its high fat content and very rich blood supply. The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health has found more than 2500 chemicals in cosmetics that are toxic, cause tumors, reproductive complications, biological mutations and skin and eye irritations. Fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, arthritis, lupus, multiple sclerosis, circulatory disorders, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's disease, irritable bowel syndrome, depression, and hormonal problems are diseases commonly related to chemical exposure.

Pesticides only have to include active ingredients on the labels, even though the inert (inactive) ingredients may account for 99%, many of which are toxic and poisons. More facts follow from Indoor Air Pollution Seminar. Our homes should have a complete change of air 3 or 4 times a day. New homes are built so airtight that it is impossible to get a complete change of air. We should leave our windows open on each side of our house for better cross ventilation.

In Alberta last year accidental poisoning statistics were as follows:

    Between the ages of:

    0 - 4 years - 11, 515 poisonings

    5 - 10 years - 1,524

    11 - 19 years 1,019

    20 and over 7,799

The top three culprits according to Poison Control: Household cleaners, bleach and medications. In the USA the #1 cause of accidental poisoning is Dawn Dishwashing Detergent (c). WHY? Because it is the #1 seller. Tide contains Lye and is the #1 polluter. It is also the #1 seller.

Deep Woods and Off have an ingredient called DEET. DEET causes seizures in children and adults. Inert (or inactive) ingredients in products are protected by trade secrets and very dangerous. In the work place Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) must accompany any product used. The work place and the outdoors are considered “legal environments” while the air in homes is not. So regulations for outdoor air pollution and toxins in the workplace are much more strict than in the home.

The ideal humidity rate is 35-45%. Higher rates cause mold. Use of humidifiers and dehumidifiers with standing water encourages mold growth in the water. The ideal temperature for homes is 68-72 degrees. Higher temperatures make chemicals more active. When we shower, the hot water aerates the chlorine and can cause headaches as can the use of aerosols. Steam from our dryer vents is extremely toxic from the chemicals in fabric softener sheets and residues from detergents and bleach.

Chemicals used to dry clean clothing are very dangerous and can cause cancer. When you bring dry cleaning home you should hang it outside for at least 3 days. Dry cleaning chemicals are the same cancer causing chemicals in mothballs. There are 4700 chemicals in tobacco smoke. Formaldehyde is one of the largest indoor pollutants in our homes. Products containing Formaldehyde include:

    Antiperspirants

    Mouthwash

    Toothpaste

    Tupperware

    Permanent Press clothing

    Floor waxes and furniture polishes

    Baggies

    Coffee

    Wax Paper

    Paper Money

Symptoms caused by formaldehyde are: Allergies, cancer, immune system failings and asthma

Phenols are a major indoor pollutant. Phenols are absorbed by lungs, and skin. Symptoms include caustic burns, kidney and liver damage and hyperactivity. Products containing Phenols include:

    Acne medications

    Baking Powder

    Computers

    TV sets

    Mouthwash

    Sugar substitutes

    Wallpaper

Do you think the major products are safe? WRONG! Lysol (c) is even more dangerous than we thought. It contains phenols and dioxin (Agent Orange). Bleach must be safe because people have been using it for years, right? WRONG! When using bleach, antiseptics or chlorine in industrial areas you are required by OSHA to wear impervious protective clothing, hard hats, boots, gloves, apron or coveralls, chemical goggles or full face shield and use only in well ventilated areas.

When using Easy Off (c) make sure all your skin is covered, wear protective clothing, do not breath in and don't get on your enamel, (if this product will hurt the enamel on your stove, can you imagine what it will do to us?).

NTAs were banned in 1970. Lobbying by Proctor %26amp; Gamble in 1980 put them back into home products although they are extremely cancer causing. What are they for? ONLY to make more suds in detergents to make you think your clothes are getting cleaner.

Our immune system is very powerful, like a janitorial system. Giving our bodies good nutrition means our body can repair itself and be able to handle what we face in the world. Household chemicals cause all kinds of symptoms - from cardiovascular problems, panic attacks, and anxiety attacks to bedwetting.

Eliminating the cause of the environmental illness is more effective and much less expensive than treating the symptoms. Prevention - 80% - 90% effective. Treatments - 50% - 60% effective. What seems to make the most sense? How can you find help?

What effects do soap, shampoo, and conditioners have on hair?

Shampooing removes sweat and dirt from the scalp. It also removes the sebum, the oily secretion of skin that protects the hair, along with the dirt that sticks to it. Clean hair feels good, although without the conditioners it can be very unmanageable. What effects do soap, shampoo, and conditioners have on hair?
Don't know about soap, but I wouldn't use it on my hair.

As for the shampoo and the conditioner, the shampoo is slightly acidic so if you wash your hair with it, make sure you follow it up with conditioner (which is slightly basic), and they will cancel each other out and make your hair neutral again. Which is good. What effects do soap, shampoo, and conditioners have on hair?
    1. soap reacts with Calcium %26amp; Magnesium ions in the water and forms an insoluble scum. When you use soap to wash your hair, the insoluble scum is invariably left behind making your hair feel nasty and unclean. http://thebeautybrains.com/2009/04/20/wh鈥?/a>

    2. There are 4 types of shampoo http://thebeautybrains.com/2007/03/03/th鈥?/a>

    A. Cleansing Shampoos - These shampoos are designed to get gunk off your hair and scalp. (produced as: volumizing, clarifying, balancing, oil control, or thickening)

    B. Conditioning Shampoos - Cleanses but leaves behind a conditioning agent like silicone to make hair feel smooth. (Aka Moisturizing, 2 in 1, Smoothing, Anti-frizz, Strengthening, Color Care, Straightening, and Hydrating)

    C. Baby Shampoos - milder, lower foaming surfactant formulas that are designed not to sting or burn your eyes

    D. Anti-Dandruff Shampoos - These are medicated shampoos that contain a drug ingredient that controls itching and flaking. (aka Anti-itch, Flake Control, and Dry Scalp)

    3. The positively charged surfactants in hair conditioner are attracted to the negative charges in your hair, and do not rinse out completely with water. When the hair dries, it is coated with a thin film, which adds weight, makes the hair easier to comb, and prevents static electricity from building up and 'frizzing' the hair.

i hate it when people do absolutely no research before answering these question.

for example: you can't say things like ';they all have chemicals'; everything in the whole world is made up of chemicals!! that's ridiculous!
hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii .......... this is arif(ur frend)

hairs are te most important %26amp; attractive looks for an human body. (according to me) how much you make them dry or wet them as u can ';meant'; di best hair for see...

But if wanna be a good %26amp; haelthy hairs women or men. wash them more than more as you can per day. and use daily shampoo which you like %26amp; use conditioners for make your hairs soft and silky.

SOAP ::::::%26gt; Soap makes ur hair very hard like very ruff . It's effect is not brings u an comfortable hair or hairstyle.

SHAMPOO::::::%26gt; Shampoo is like an conditioner which makes ur hair soft %26amp; silkty.

CONDITIONERS::::::::::::::%26gt;U JUST USE THAT %26amp; YOU WILL KNOW HOW IT WORKS %26amp; ITS EFWCTS ON YOUR HAIRS.
my dad used to use soap on his hair and it looks gross as always ;D

he switched to shampoo and his hair is nice now ;P

conditioner is good once in a while, but not too often either..but they all have chemicals so beware lol :]
Since all have a percentage of chemicals they will leave your hair ad scalp dry. Hydration and nourishment is what you need to look for at least once a fornight if not then once a month is a must.
Dont put soap on your hair.

Shampoo cleans your hair.. so its always essential that you use this. It also stops it from getting greasy.

Conditioner softens and moisturises your hair so its essential you use this too!
The soap make it greasy, the shampoo cleans and the conditioners make the structure weaker due the enzymes.
soap is for the body not the hair.

    Shampoo cleanses.

    Conditioner softens and/or moisturizes.

No you don't, it will wash the tint out. It's hardly noticeable anyway, the sachet has some form of cleaner in it because it foams.Do i shampoo after using superdrug colour effects?
    yes

Is there a shampoo that can mimic the effects of not washing my hair?

I know it's disgusting, but I like the way my hair looks when it's a little greasy like if I don't wash it. Every shampoo I try dries out my hair even though they say they moisturize. So my solution is to just use a very small amount of shampoo, but that's kind of gross so I was wondering if there was something I can use. I've tried wax, but that's just too much, and mousse, gels, creams and sprays don't give me the right results. Is there a shampoo that can mimic the effects of not washing my hair?
Have you tried shampooing like normal, and then conditioning, but NOT washing the conditioner out? It seems to me that this would work quite well at giving you that greasy look.Is there a shampoo that can mimic the effects of not washing my hair?
You can use this shampoo and conditioner made by Khiel's..

i forgot what it was called but it says that it ';mimics the natural oils of your hair';. It's completely natural and uses fruit oils to do that.

    :]
have you tried palmade?? I suggest you use a regular amount of shampoo and a heavy conditioner (like conditioning balm conditioner) the excess amount of conditioner will leave you hair looking greasy. you have to use a lot of conditioner though.
You could try a dry shampoo... it's used a lot for those who aren't able to wash their hair in water... try a pharmacy, maybe. Or when you wash your hair use only a tiny bit and only work it into the roots. Washing your scalp is neccesary to prevent scalp disorders.. but you don't need to do it everyday. Maybe just once a week and use a dry shampoo the rest of the time. Here's a website you might be interested in... some of the products they sell may work for you. Good luck! http://www.knottyboy.com
    Just don't wash it...:)
I've heard of something like that. It's got bed in it's name, like Bed Head or Bed Hair I think. Maybe try asking a beautician.

There is a natural product called Miracle II that is supposed to be good if shampoo dries you out. Write me if you want and I'll look it up for you.
You can use dry hair shampoo at www.renefurtereronline.com
